Where is Buzzards Bay Yacht Charters Located?

We are located at the Mattapoisett Boatyard, 32 Neds Point Rd, Mattapoisett, MA. Once you have parked at the boatyard walk to the launch dock and come out on the water taxi to Petrel or Hamlet.

Where do I go when I arrive?

Proceed to the brown canopy on the waterfront. Tell the launch driver you are you going to Hamlet or Petrel (depending on your charter). We will be on the boat preparing for your arrival.

What types of charters do you offer?

We offer both sailing and powerboat charters for various durations, including 2, 4, and 6-hour trips. Whether you're planning a family day out, a bachelorette party, or a corporate outing, we have the perfect charter for you.

Which type of charter is best for me?

It all boils down to how much you want to be involved in the action. If you are looking for an active, hands-on experience, helping to hoist and trim the sails, Hamlet is the boat for you. If you want to be pampered; sit back, relax and take in the day aboard Petrel, our powerboat.

Do you provide sailing lessons?

Who will be our captain?

Captain Steve, along with his son Teddy, lead Buzzards Bay Yacht Charters. Both hold USCG Merchant Mariner Credentials and bring decades of experience, ensuring a safe and enjoyable journey.

Is the charter suitable for families with children?

Absolutely! Our charters are family-friendly, and we take extra care to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, including children. Life jackets and safety measures are provided.

What should I bring for the charter?

We recommend bringing sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and any personal items you may need. Comfortable clothing and non-slip shoes are also advised. Snacks and beverages are welcome, but alcohol consumption should be in moderation.

Can we bring our own food and drinks?

Yes, you're welcome to bring your own food and beverages. Water and/or seltzer will be provided. If you bring alcohol, only beer, wine, and other non-liquor beverages will be allowed on board. Buzzards Bay Yacht Charters reserves the right to cancel or suspend any charter without a refund due to overly intoxicated guests.

How do I make a reservation?

Making a reservation is easy! Simply visit our website, choose your preferred charter, and follow the booking instructions. If you have specific requirements or questions, feel free to reach out to us directly.

What is the cancellation policy?

Charter bookings are valid only for the date and time purchased.  Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to departure will receive a 100% refund.  If you cancel at least 5 days before departure a credit on another date will be provided.  No refunds or credit will be given on cancellations made within 4 days of departure.

Weather Cancellations:  The final decision to sail due to weather conditions resides with Buzzards Bay Yacht Charters, LLC.  If your scheduled sail is called due to adverse weather conditions, you will receive a full refund, a credit for another date or you may give a gift certificate to share with a friend.

Our sails will run in light to moderately inclement weather.   Don’t worry, we won’t send you out in heavy or steady rain, thick fog, high winds, or if the weather appears threatening.  We will sail in cloudy, occassional light rain, cold, or overcast conditions, so be sure to dress appropriately for the forecasted weather.  When the weather looks questionable, we’ll check the radar before we leave and make sure conditions are safe.

Can I bring my pet on the charter?

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on board to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests.

Is there a restroom on board?

Yes, all our charters are equipped with basic restroom facilities for your convenience.

Are gratuities included in the charter price?

Gratuities are not included in the charter price. If you enjoyed your experience and wish to tip the crew, it is greatly appreciated.

Can we fish during the charter?

We are not equipped as a sports fishing boat.

Do you provide life jackets for children?

Yes, we provide life jackets for guests of all ages, including children. Safety is our top priority.

Is there parking available near the departure point?

Yes, there is plenty of parking available at Mattapoisett Boatyard. Park near the fuel dock and take the launch to your charter yacht; Petrel or Hamlet.

Can we bring a professional photographer on board for special events?

Absolutely! We welcome professional photographers to capture your special moments. Please inform us in advance to make the necessary arrangements.

What type of wildlife might we encounter during the charter?

Buzzards Bay is known for its rich marine life. Depending on the season, you might spot dolphins, seals, and various seabirds. Our captains are experienced in providing information about the local wildlife.

Do you offer gift certificates?

How far in advance should I book my charter?

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during peak seasons. However, last-minute bookings may be available, so feel free to check our availability calendar or contact us for more information.
